Love is an untamed force. When we try to control it, it destroys us. When we try to imprison it, it enslaves us. When we try to understand it, it leaves us feeling lost and confused. Love, when in contradiction (might i add in moderation, or at least with appreciation)grows in strength.

I wouldn't typically find myself reading a book with such an incredulous plot - A man (the author himself) in search of his wife (his fourth) who forsook him for no apparent reason. The book did promise that 'his search for her -and for the truth of his own life- leads him into a new understanding of the nature of love, the power of destiny and what it really means to follow your heart.' That's no empty promise though. What I have quoted is definitely inadequate in reflecting this. I really like the author's honest approach, in sharing every aspect of his life, from his promiscuous affairs to admitting his incompetencies and most importantly, extracting insights from them. Okay, i'm not writing a book review here. But it's not my intention to promote it either. I just felt it amusing for me to be reading such a book, and yet be so immersed in it.

Speaking of insights, today's geog group meeting was rather enlightening. It had nothing to do with geog (precisely why). We pretty much digressed everytime the urge to start on our intended discussion arose. We talked about the holocaust, 9/11, iraq conflict, and inevitably came to the root cause of resentment towards these tragedies: Death. Morbid morbid morbid. I always knew it was morbid, because it marked the end. I knew it was inevitable, something that would definitely hunt me down someday. But I readily accepted it. And I realised today it was because it always felt so distant, and i never fully comprehended the implications. Then today maria goes: '70 years is very short. Life is very short.' Suvee: 'Can you imagine, when you die, you're just gone. An insignificant soul that just vanished.' And then what? Nothing. Nothing at all! Ripped of all consciousness, just a rotting piece of corpse buried beneath a RIP rock that stands as evidence of your existence. Whether I die as Isaac Newton or Jane Doe, it wouldn't make any difference to me in the end. From a selfish perspective, whatever knowledge I've gained, contributions I've made, changes I've brought about, would be of no significance to me anymore. Nothing to savour or despise, no pleasure or pain. No wonder people conjure up theories of heaven and hell and life-after-death, just to comfort themselves that there is no absolute end. But what if there is no such thing. This is my last chance, the 70+ years I've got (hopefully at least that) to take advantage of everything the presence of consciousness has to offer to me, to make full use of my potential. It's definitely more complicated than that, but the revelation might serve as a beginning. Yeah suvee, some day when I'm rich and famous, I'll quote you lol.

Okay, moving on from love & death (psh such an oximoron pair), I realised I've been listening to a mixture of songs (or rather genre/lang etc) lately, apart from the usual mainstream eng pop. Here's the hit list!:

Ice-skating! Fell 3 frigging times and froze numb. Fun nonetheless. RMUN was a blast! Glad I met people like thilanga, dinah, stef, nadiah, suren, akash. HRC <3! but darn, my comp got screwed and this's the only pic i've got. oh well.

And Disney channel has produced yet another 'original movie': Jump In! I only watched halfway, but i've got it recorded. Pretty cool rally, actively pursuing skipping as a serious sport. We SHOULD start a jump rope cca in jc izzah! lol. Omg there's High School Musical 2 coming too. The horror. Okay fine, i used to incessantly sing the songs from the first one, but they played it WAY too many times on disney channel, until i got sick of it. As if we have amnesia and have to be constantly reminded of its existence.

I WANT HAGRID TO FIND ME AND TAKE ME TO HOGWARTS NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! To think, i actually used to practice saying wingardium liviosa and stay up late on my 11th, 12th & 13th birthday waiting for a damn owl to deliver me an invitation! harhar. I've grown out of that fantasy now, just looking forward to the movie (July 12th!).

The matched got postponed. AGAIN! Two days in a row. But we had lots of fun on thursday celebrating Miss Chng's birthday haha. Semi-finals against DAMAI! Ah we went through this anxiety twice which ended anti-climax. Hopefully on monday we will play, and PWN!

All emo, as it rains. Again. Bah! We prayed for good weather!

Okay so since it was confirmed to be postponed, we decided to go ahead with the 'CELEBRATE MISS CHNG'S (coach) SURPRISE BIRTHDAY' mission! Nice cake huh?

We sang the song, gave her a new adidas bag with lots of little stuff for her inside from everyone (a survival kit for netball matches!) & a nice card from bdiv. And she promises to stay with raffles! She's so bribe-able lol. Then she had to leave, leaving the cake with us. Nyeheheh. CAKE FIGHT! (after we ate 9/10th of it of course)

THEY'RE FINALLY BACK! My sec 1 craze. The video's really good too, but i agree with the irony. 'Wearing a coat made of 40 cows and whining about the world's destruction' haha. I'm hoping there'd be more of the traditional 'emo' tracks in the album. I mean that's their forte! This stuff doesn't match up to their image. If they're going for a major transition, i violently object! The world's got enough preachers anyway, needs more who practice. Ah well, I'm going to GET that album anyway! MAY 14th! :D
